The Texas Department of Transportation has canceled its planned road closure through Dallas-Fort Worth, citing a “hurricane threat” and the need for extra road maintenance.

The closure is due to the upcoming hurricane, the agency announced Friday.

A spokesperson for the department, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the closure was a result of the threat of Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to make landfall in the U.S. mid-September.

The spokesperson did not elaborate on what specific type of hurricane Matthew could be.
